Changes for private ancillary funds in the pipeline
In a recent speech to the Community Council for Australia forum, Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg flagged that the Abbott Government plan to make changes to the way in which private ancillary funds can distribute their assets and wind-up. The exact changes that will be made are yet to be determined, but the overall intention will be to reduce the red-tape faced by these organisations.
A private ancillary fund allows individuals and companies to establish and make tax deductible donations to a charitable trust and then disburse these funds to other organisations with deductible gift recipient status.
