Harwood Andrews wins BtheChange Rookie of the Year

Harwood Andrews has been announced as the BtheChange Rookie of the Year at this year’s international B Corp Champions Retreat in Philadelphia. The award was open to any B Corp outside of the US within its first two years of certification, making this another incredible achievement for the firm.

The award was one of only a few presented as part of the major B Corp Champions Retreat dinner held at the US National Constitution Centre in Philadelphia. The retreat brings together global B Corp leaders from around the world to be inspired to use business as a force for good, celebrate innovation and grow the B Corp movement.

The win follows the firm’s recent receipt of Best Regional/Suburban Firm of the Year at the 2016 Lawyers Weekly Awards which focused on Harwood Andrews’ regional expertise, specialised legal skills, innovative practices and community focus.

The BtheChange award recognised Harwood Andrews’ commitment to our staff, the environment, customers and the broader community. The award recognised especially the contribution the firm has made in fostering relations within the B Corp community within Australia, which has grown from just over 40 to 150 businesses during the time we have held our certification. In addition, the vital role that Managing Principal, Dan Simmonds, and Special Counsel, Ashleigh Wall, have played in establishing a series of lunches for B Corp managers and owners to discuss issues surrounding their businesses, as well as their role in contributing to a working group investigating changes to the Corporations Law to acknowledge benefit corporations was cited as another key reason for the win.

Each of the recent award wins for Harwood Andrews illustrate our strength as a leading firm, not just in legal skill and expertise, but also in the progressive approach we take in how we conduct our business to not only value shareholders, but also broader stakeholders such as our staff, environment and communities in which we operate.
