The Role:
As a Finance Officer/Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of our organisation. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of financial tasks including transaction processing, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and system improvements. This role works closely with the Finance department and collaborates across teams to deliver high-quality financial support.
Key Tasks:
Financial Operations
Process invoices, receipts, reimbursements, and payments
Manage accounts payable and daily bank reconciliations
Monitor cash flow and maintain the Fixed Asset Register
Support trust account transactions and PEXA settlements
Reporting & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Compliance & Audits
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including GST and FBT
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare audit documentation
Systems & Process Improvement
Contribute to financial system enhancements and software implementation
Provide training and support on financial procedures and platforms
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with internal teams to deliver financial insights
Respond to financial queries and participate in ad hoc projects
Skills & Experience:
Essential
Experience in a similar role, ideally within the legal industry
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Exceptional customer service and time management skills
Strong attention to detail in a high-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with general ledger maintenance and financial reporting
Familiarity with Practice Management software (3E) and iManage (desirable)
Knowledge of trust account regulations and compliance (desirable)
