The Role:

As a Finance Officer/Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of our organisation. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of financial tasks including transaction processing, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and system improvements. This role works closely with the Finance department and collaborates across teams to deliver high-quality financial support.

Key Tasks:

Financial Operations

  • Process invoices, receipts, reimbursements, and payments

  • Manage accounts payable and daily bank reconciliations

  • Monitor cash flow and maintain the Fixed Asset Register

  • Support trust account transactions and PEXA settlements

Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Compliance & Audits

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including GST and FBT

  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare audit documentation

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Contribute to financial system enhancements and software implementation

  • Provide training and support on financial procedures and platforms

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with internal teams to deliver financial insights

  • Respond to financial queries and participate in ad hoc projects

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within the legal industry

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Exceptional customer service and time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail in a high-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with general ledger maintenance and financial reporting

  • Familiarity with Practice Management software (3E) and iManage (desirable)

  • Knowledge of trust account regulations and compliance (desirable)
