ACNC revokes charitable status of 169 organisations

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) has revoked the charitable status of 169 organisations for failing to comply with their reporting obligations for two or more consecutive years.  This means that these organisations will lose access to all Commonwealth tax concessions, such as exemption from income tax, to which they were previously entitled.

The revocations are part of the wider process being undertaken by the ACNC of maintaining an up-to-date charity register.

The ACNC has attempted multiple times to contact the charities without response meaning that the organisations impacted by the revocations are likely no longer active.

If your organisation has been issued with a notice of revocation and is still active we recommend that you seek immediate legal advice.
