Emma Buchanan is a Special Counsel in Harwood Andrews’ property law practice area. Emma is also responsible for preparing and maintaining the firm’s precedents. She was admitted to legal practice in 2007, but prior to that had worked law firms as a leasing paralegal and assistant for a number of years.
Emma has specialist expertise in retail, commercial, primary production, government and crown land leasing. She provides high quality advice to all levels of retail, commercial and government tenant and landlord clients, including preparing, reviewing and advising on:
leases;
agreements for lease;
variations of lease;
transfers of lease;
surrenders of lease;
agistment and cropping agreements; and
lease default notices.
Emma has many years’ experience and expertise in providing advice and dealing with commercial, industrial, crown land, local government, rural and residential property sale and purchase transactions and other property dealings such as
old law conversions,
road closures,
adverse possession,
water shares and licences,
subdivisions and consolidations,
registration and advice regarding easements and other property restrictions,
NICO transfers,
section 173 agreements,
licences,
development agreements and advice,
compulsory acquisition matters,
advice in relation to GST and duty on property transactions, including duty exemptions.
Emma has for many years been providing advice to residents of retirement villages, aged care facilities and supported residential service facilities. She has also acted for and advised retirement village owners.
Emma has previously worked in the area of commercial and business law and is familiar with a broach range of commercial and business transactions and matters.
