Harwood Andrews Promotions and Appointments

Harwood Andrews has started 2020 with gusto, announcing internal promotions, appointments to Principal and a new look property team.

“We are delighted to welcome Senior Associates Sophie Stickland and Jamie McCallum, who have recently joined Harwood Andrews’ Property Law team in our Geelong office,” comments Harwood Andrews CEO, Andrew Barnes

“We’re looking to the future with Sophie and Jamie; they bring with them strong practices and an appetite to grow and further develop their expertise. We’re thrilled to have them onboard,” concludes Andrew.

Sophie has been practicing law since the early 2000’s and has had a legal career that has taken her all over the world, including London, Tokyo, Madrid and Munich.

Sophie’s key areas of practice include acting for local government and water authorities, commercial leasing, and developer and construction related property issues. Further, Sophie speaks fluent Japanese and has undertaken further study at Nottingham Trent University, and has commenced a Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne.  Immediately prior to joining Harwood Andrews Sophie was running her own practice around Geelong and the Surf Coast.

Jamie is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Property Law Specialist and comes to Harwood Andrews after practicing property law for several years in regional Victoria.

Throughout his legal career he has developed a keen interest and expertise in complex property due diligence advice along with transactional work including commercial, farming, and industrial real estate transactions. His key areas of practice include small and large scale subdivision developments, general law property conversions, adverse possession claims; commercial, farming and retail leasing; and boundary disputes.

Earlier this month, Harwood Andrews also announced the appointment of Paul Gray and Kate Morris to Principal.

Paul joined the firm in late 2017, bringing a commercial approach to the firm from a broad set of experiences as a business owner, private legal advisor and in-house counsel. Based in the Geelong office, he is a valued member of the Business Law team whose key areas of practice include commercial contracts and advice, business and share capital structuring, technology and data protection, and consumer law.

Kate is a key member of the Planning & Environment team based in our Melbourne office. Kate joined the firm in 2017 and acts for both government and private clients in metropolitan and regional Victoria. In May 2019, she was named in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Town Planning and Development Lawyer in Victoria.

At the same, Harwood Andrews announced the promotions of Ali Erskine, Ben Broadhead and Daniela Pavlovic to the positions of Principal Lawyer, and just last week announced several promotions within the firm including John Hannagan from the Planning and Environment team to Special Counsel.
